A Head of Legal is required by an established Sportsbook operator to oversee their global legal operations.  

 
This organisation has a global presence with offices in Europe, US and Asia, this senior management position focuses on providing practical, solution-oriented legal support to all aspects of the business, ensuring the company navigates legal challenges effectively while supporting growth and operational goals.

 
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact within a global leader in the Online Gaming & Gambling space, the successful candidate will have experience in Sportsbook as well as experience in both regulated and non-regulated markets.

 
This is an onsite position, so you’ll be required to be in the Malta office at least 3 days a week.


Responsibilities of the Head of Legal include:

• Solution-Oriented Legal Support: Providing practice legal solutions aligning with business objectives, ensuring compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Legal Operations Oversight: Oversee all legal aspects of the company’s operations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary legal liaison between the business and external stakeholders incl, regulators, partners, and external counsel.
• Risk Mitigation: Engage in proactive identification and assessment of potential legal risks.
• Legal Team Leadership: Lead a small dynamic team of legal professionals in handling all issues.
• Management of External Legal Services: Efficiently coordinate with external legal counsel, ensuring the company receives focused legal support.

 

The successful Head of Legal will have/be:

• A proven background within a senior legal role, within the sports betting, iGaming or similar related industry.
• Extensive experience dealing with gaming regulatory bodies and a deep understand of the legal frameworks governing the iGaming industry.
• Ability to lead a high-performing legal team.
• Comprehensive knowledge of corporate law, IP, commercial contracts, and compliance.
• Licensed to practice law in good standing.

 

In addition to these technical skills, you must be a self-starter, have good analytical skills and possess a passion for solving complex problems. Strong communication skills are also essential, and you will be confident working and collaborating with stakeholders up to a senior level.
